DIGITAL DOLLHOUSE
This series is a bright and colourful reminder of our personal, digital histories, revolving specifically around themes of distant-yet-intimate relationships, identity, emotional processing, and loss of control. Fundamentally, these works showcase the effects of growing up in a digital age on the human psyche.
These works create their own strange, surrealist dialogue from symbols and characters inspired from Powell’s personal life. Subjects including Elven spirits inspired from Icelandic folklore, or early 2000s “Groovy Girls” dolls, leave the viewer to enter within these worlds and feel the overwhelming, confusing, and sentimental emotions that are circling within.
